The Langara Students’ Union Association
All post-secondary students at Langara College are General Members of the Langara Students’ Union Association (LSU). Incorporated in 1969, the LSU is the collective voice of over 9000 students at Langara College. We pay membership dues when tuition fees are collected by the College each semester.
In British Columbia dues are collected under the authority of the College and Institutes Act and facilitated through a fee collection agreement with the College. The fees are then used to provide LSU members with our Students’ Union Building and a variety of services, including a computer/meeting room; low-cost faxing, photocopying, and laminating; lounge seating, microwave station & hot water dispenser; and events and activities organized throughout the year.
The LSU Association functions through its Council, Advisors, and Board of Directors. These positions are held by students who are elected by the General Membership to one year terms of office during the first 5 weeks of the Fall Semester. Election information will be posted within first few weeks of the Fall Semester. The LSU also hires reliable students to assist with election polling.
Throughout the rest of the year, LSU committees organize a variety of events and resources for the Student body. Councillors and Advisors work closely with Committees to contribute to a dynamic campus experience by organizing on-campus events, workshops, & speakers, lobby various levels of government on behalf of students, and continue to expand or enhance services to its members.
